Hey

There's this new opera and they need help.

I'm putting out a call for folks who might want to donate some time to an amazing project.
You can hear the demo here www.burningopera.com <http://www.burningopera.com>
This is a link to more of the recorded music http://www.thereallybig.com/how%20to%20survive%20the%20apocalypse/

Here's the full story on this piece.

A guy named Mark Nichols, a brilliant composer and Erik Davis, a brilliant writer got together with some talented folks and created this piece.
They have about 20 minutes written and recorded. Mark is planning on writing 10 more songs. It's dark, it's freakish, it spans all genres, it is beautiful and haunting. It will be a theatrical stage play. The long term goal is to tour it in a much larger community involved type road show.
This piece "How to survive the Apocalypse" being the main attraction.

At the moment there is no budget for this. I am donating my time producing and my theatre for auditions, rehearsals and 2 nights in January to stage
the 20 minutes they have written. Our hope in staging this is to gather more interest, performers, perhaps investors, and basically see how it looks and sounds on stage.

I'll post the audition/rehearsal/show schedule below.

This is what Mark Nichols is looking for and some of the roles:

:::::As far as band, we're looking for volunteers who really like the music and can see themselves in the band. I'd like them to audition along with the actors. Looking for people who are comfortable with an audience and who've played a lot of theater. Looking for players with a great sense (and LOVE) of dynamics. Generally a theater band has to play more quietly and intensely than they're used to and make it full. Would appreciate people who are very comfortable with funk and breakbeat. Listen to the demo at www.burningopera.com <http://www.burningopera.com>
and see if it is what you want to be doing. Must be prepared for theatrix. If you're interested in assistant music directing and conducting the shows please say so now.::::

As far as cast, singing is highest priority and good harmony singing at that. Looking for freaks and talented actor/movers/people who can connect honestly. Looking for voices that make people jealous.

Jean Geanie: a drag queen must be able to sing harmony
A young dude who will play the young dude , Bud "It's time to party..." A good singer/dancer good look, versitle, maybe plays an instrument
A bass or baritone who can play the 'Mustachio' part. He's a provacateur. Maybe a puppeteer, mime or clown. Anarchist.
Another woman chorus, good look, hopefully sings harmony great and can play a band instrument or strings, or can do Bulgarian Women's choir style or opera.
Bass Player
Theatrical drummer, (this is someone who can play with bundled stick or brushes and has excellent sense of dynamics)
Keyboard/DJ type (good musician and computer geek) plays Djembe also
Video op
Guitar
Maybe some horns or strings (violin or viola)

We're also looking for:
Costumers
Stage Managers
Light Tech
Sound Tech
Set designers
Production Assistant
Assistant Director
Promotions
Investors

If this interests you at all please get a hold of myself (ty@stagewerx.org) or mark at mn@thereallybig.com

Auditions (tentative) Saturday Nov 7th 2p-5p Sunday Nov 8th 2p-5p
Camping with Illumination Village in 2007
----------------------------------------------------

In 2007, we’ve got great plans for Illumination Village. This year, like last, we're asking for $50 from each camper. If $50 still seems cheap, we'd gladly put whatever additional funds you can contribute to good use.

I’ve requested Esplanade and 3:00-5:00 placement next door to The Devil’s Workshop and Day Spa, and it looks like we’ll be good, if the little birdie I’ve heard from is accurate. Burningman was impressed with how the Village looked and felt last year, they seem excited about the submitted 2007 plans. 2007 will be a lot like last year, with a tight, organized layout, art up front, interactive stuff on the esplanade. We’ll have a lot of big fire projects across from the village entry on the playa side, and Dr. HiHor has been working on a new village entry gate that incorporates propane.

For our space, I’ve requested a single 300’ frontage by 250’ side road spot. This would be slightly larger than our frontage last year, but without the back annex; I think we’ll need that frontage to fit all the projects we have going on. Ill Vill will be providing power 24/7, have showers of some fashion, and will even have some swanky metal medallions for villagers.

Some of the attractions slated for 2007 include:
Neverwas and their Steam exhibit
Body Wash?
Big Beds and Tea House (fingers crossed)
Technomania Circus’ Black Light Theater
Satan’s Calliope
Pyrocussion/Mothtrap
Dragons of Eden (good luck Lucy)
Boom Cookie
Bizarro Saguaro
Giant Swingset
FLG Encore Piece
Cardboard Houses
Keyhole Sculpture Garden
Pink Pleasure Palace
Aguamala bar
Shelter Skelter (Mycol Hudgin’s awesome Buddha fire bus!)
Upside Down S’s T-shirt shack
Bead Workshop

Some of the team members of Mechabolic, SWARM and Celtic Forest will be in camp as well.

Here’s the text for our village that will appear in the printed guide:

2007 is The Illumination Village’s 13th anniversary on the playa.
The Illumination Village is an active, driven community of dedicated artists, technologists and hardcore fans of fire. We’re a powerful force on the playa; building, supporting and burning some of the best and biggest art the playa has ever seen. The Illumination Village is old school fire, steam punks, mad science, anachronistic power generation, neon, electricity and sculpture that’s interactive and entertaining. We bring fuel, we bring energy, we bring art, and we light up the night. We stoke the flames, mixing fire and steel, keeping your body warm at night, and your eyes twinkling with the reflections of combustion.

----------------------------------------------------
Weekend Arrivals 12:01AM 8/25 – 11:59PM 8/26
----------------------------------------------------
The short list for arrival before Friday the 24th has been closed and I’m expecting final approval of that list of 7 names soon. For weekend arrival between 12:01AM Saturday the 25th and 11:59PM Sunday the 26th, I’ve requested 40 slots. I’ll be able to confirm the number by July 30th. Once the number’s been approved, I’ll be supply passes based on whether you really need to be there early, if there are more requests than passes.
2007 Illumination Village Website
----------------------------------------------------
The Illumination Village website will go live online in the next few days, at the Burningart.com. As soon as the placement team confirms our location and space size, I’ll start assembling and posting a PDF of the most up to date map there. Once the site is ready for primetime, I’ll post the actual link here on the list.

For reference, here’s a link to the 2006 Ill Vill website:
----------------------------------------------------
We need your help NOW!
----------------------------------------------------
Your camping fee contribution is about supporting a village that you
love, that you care about, that you're a part of. We're all proud of
being a piece of the village's legacy, now's the time turn that
pride into a contribution that gives Illumination Village the
freedom to evolve to next level. Let's build a healthy community
that provides its members with a playa home that's a blast to be a
part of, that's powerful, vibrant, alive and full of fire.

Please send your camping fees now!

Thanks!

I'm still trying to figure out the logistics and finanaces, so am really just throwing out some lines, trying to get a handle on just waht it wil take to get to BRC from KY. Any idea on what the fees are for this year's Village? Can I come and play!?
I had a great time camping with all of you this year and I am very impressed with the level of talent at the Ill Vill camp. I also have a request for a bag of my personal items that were left behind and that I would like to recover. It is a yellow best buy bag with my travel shave kit, blue shirt and jeans, my nokia car charger and headset. If anyone was good enough to pick this up before it was left behind to the winds of the playa I would be very grateful to get it back. I live in the bay area (Mountain View) and would gladly reimbure for any shipping. I will also be going to the SF decom festival in October and can meet with you there as well. I hope everyone had a uneventful and safe journey back from our magical kindom. Thank you
Information on sending us your fees is on the Burningart website:
If you need to send along feedback, don't wait. I'm not going to want to keep jumping into the map application and posting new versions; and time is running out. How about this - if I don't have your comments by this Saturday at noon, you're S.O.L.

One last thing - if you haven't paid your camping fee or worked out arrangements with your mayors, I do have a reserved site for you; it's called Deadbeat Camp.
This is changed from last year. Dropping the Village name will NOT get you in early.

If you want to be on-playa before Sunday evening at one minute past midnight, you MUST post a reply in the Yahoo group thread, or post here.

You snooze - you lose.

From the Illumination Village Yahoo group list:

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Hello Villagers,

Our early arrivals list must be submitted to BORG by this Monday,
July 17th. There are two lists to submit; each hold their own
criteria. This is important info, so please read the note below from
Harley and respond to me by Sunday, July 16th if you feel you need
to be included on the list. Since the first list is limited to 10
names, Jessica, Steve & I will determine who needs to be on it. If
your name is not on the first or second list you will NOT be able to
arrive before 12:01 Monday, August 28th. Please also be sure you
have your ticket.

------------------------------------------------------------------
------------------------------------------------------------------
EARLY ARRIVALS

In order to be admitted to the city before the start of the event at
12:01 am on Monday, August 28, you MUST be on the Early Arrivals
List AND have your ticket in hand. Having one or the other will not
work. You MUST have BOTH in order to gain entry into the city.

Early Arrival Process and Approval Criteria

Just as in previous years due to BLM restrictions, only a very
limited number of theme camp participants can be admitted to the
city prior to 12:01 am Saturday, August 26. Additionally, also due
to BLM requirements, everyone admitted to the city prior to the
start of the event at 12:01 am Monday, August 28 must be on the
early arrivals list. If your camp would like to have participants
enter the city early, we need to receive two lists from your camp by
Monday, July 17.

First List: Early Arrival Approved List for entries prior to 12:01
am Saturday, August 26. This is the very short list of key members
of your camp required for early setup. Just like other years, we
will not be able to accommodate all of the requests. Here are the
early arrival criteria we will use to prioritize your requests:

a. Building your camp or art project is the best reason to deserve
early arrival. If you have complex stuff you deserve to enter early
enough to not spend the whole event working.

b. Camps with high interactivity will get preferential treatment
over camps that give less.

c. There is a maximum of 10 people per camp.

The earliest anyone can arrive is Monday, August 21st.

Second List: THIS IS NEW THIS YEAR! Early Arrival Weekend List for
entries between 12:01 am Saturday, August 26 and 12:01 am Monday,
August 28. This list will not be subject to an approval process, but
all individuals must be affiliated with a theme camp and must be on
the list to be admitted prior to the official start of the event.

Ticket Purchases for Early Arrivals

If you are requesting an early arrival on the playa to get a head
start setting up your theme camp, we HIGHLY encourage you to make
sure that each person who would like to come early, order their
ticket as soon as possible.

The deadline to order tickets online and have them mailed to you is
July 31, 2006. All tickets ordered online after July 31, 2006 will
be held at Will Call, which does not open until Wednesday 8/23/06 at
noon. The only way to get your ticket in hand after July 31st is to
buy your tickets through one of our four Walk In Outlets (see ticket
info page below for details). Remember, there is NO WILL CALL prior
to Wednesday 8/23/06 at noon.

If you think you *might* qualify for the Early Arrival for set up
purposes PLEASE be sure to order your ticket BEFORE the July 31
mailing deadline, ESPECIALLY if you need to arrive before noon on
Wednesday 8/23/06. Anyone arriving before noon on 8/23/06 that does
not have a ticket in hand will NOT be permitted entrance into BRC,
EVEN if you are on the Early Arrival list.

I was given a pendant at Flipside (click to see: http://img407.imageshack.us/img407/20/photo1837mv.jpg ) Anyhow, I'd like to create a design (maybe a Texas Burner design?) and get some made for burning man to give as gifts, but all attempts on the web have resulted in high dollar pendants made from silver/gold/gemstones OR cheap plastic moopy pendants.

Does anyone know of someone who has the equipment/expertise to make a pendant such as the one in the photo OR know WWHO made this pendant? Ideally, I'd like to order a minimum of 100 or 200 at $1.50 or less. (The less expensive, the more I'll order.) I'm not even sure what kind of metal the one I have is made from, but whatever it is, I like it. I would also rather support a small business or local business.

Send me a message if you know of anyone. Any help is greatly appreciated.

THE ILLUMINATION VILLAGE –IMPORTANT INFORMATION
____________________________________________________

----------------------------------------------------
Camping with Illumination Village in 2006
----------------------------------------------------
In 2006, we’re building a better Illumination Village, while
supporting the old school village we love. To fund our village
plans, we need to up the ante. In previous years we’ve asked for
ridiculously small contributions. Last year, for instance, the
request was that each camper contributed $15. Wow, that’s what it
costs to park in a garage in downtown SF for a couple of hours...

This year, we’re asking for $50 from each camper. If $50 still seems
cheap, we’d gladly put whatever additional funds you can contribute
to good use.

----------------------------------------------------
Paying your camping fee
----------------------------------------------------
You can use the Paypal account below to send us your camping fees.
Please include your name, a phone number or email contact point and
the names of anyone else that you’re paying for. Remember, its
$50/per camper. We’ll post the list of contributing villagers on our
website.

PAYPAL WEBSITE:
http://www.paypal.com/cgi-bin/webscr?cmd=p/ema/index-outside

PAYPAL ACCOUNT:
jessica@jesshobbs.com

If you do not have Paypal, you can send us a check; email
thinkcooper@yahoo.com for details on paying by check.

----------------------------------------------------
2006 Illumination Village Website
----------------------------------------------------
Charlie has generously allowed us to piggyback on the burningart
website to post 2006 Illumination Village web info. Here's the entry
page:

http://www.burningart.com/ill_vill_2006/bman2006.html

----------------------------------------------------
We need your help NOW!
----------------------------------------------------
Your camping fee contribution is about supporting a village that you
love, that you care about, that you’re a part of. We’re all proud of
being a piece of the village’s legacy, now’s the time turn that
pride into a contribution that gives Illumination Village the
freedom to evolve to next level. Let’s build a healthy community
that provides its members with a playa home that’s a blast to be a
part of, that’s powerful, vibrant, alive and full of fire.

This year we are trying to purchase a generator for the Village. We
have already acquired the cables & spider boxes – thanks to several
generous contributions. We will be looking for a very large (40kW
range), whisper quiet diesel generator at auction. The auctions are
happening now. Illumination Village camping fees are due to
Jessica’s Paypal account ASAP. We have to get our funds in place
immediately in order to make this happen and we’re counting on you,
so please don’t delay.

----------------------------------------------------
The legacy of Illumination Village
----------------------------------------------------
2006 is the Illumination Village’s 12th anniversary on the playa.
Over those last dozen years Illumination Village has become a
community. It’s an active community of wickedly dedicated artists,
and hardcore fans of fire. It’s a village that’s incredibly cool to
be a part of. We’re a powerful force on the playa; building,
supporting and burning some of the best and biggest art the playa
has ever seen. The Illumination Village is old school fire. We bring
fuel, we bring energy, we bring art, and we burn it. BRC loves what
we do, loves that we keep the big fires burning, loves that we mix
fire and steel. We’ve built a reputation over the years, and this
year we’re adding powerful new legends to that legacy.

A team of us are putting the proposal together, asking for a huge
plot of space so we can be less cramped than last year. We’ve
developed a map to justify our request and layout some roads for
better vehicle access, a bikeway to get back into our camps, and of
course, an esplanade keyhole full of sculpture and fire. We’ll have
dedicated areas for small tents, buses and parking, with zones for
performance projects, art projects, art cars and large scale
sculptures. We’ll be on the esplanade and dedicating the frontage to
show all of BRC what we bring to the playa. Plus we’ll be investing
in infrastructure so we don’t keep tossing money away on wickedly
expensive rentals of generators and power grids. It’ll be an amazing
village, our home on the playa, but we need your help. Please send
your camping fees now!

Thanks!
Unfortunately I don't know their address.... Charlie, can you please post address & directions for anyone who might need it? Also, we discussed having a potluck. Anyone up for bringing food to share?

Meeting topics will include:
- Who will be in the village this year & when will you arrive?
- Grid - folks are already chipping in $$. This great - keep in coming!
- What art will be in the village (big or small - open flames or electricity needed)? It will be required, as it always has been, to contribute art to the village.
- What should the population limit of the Village be? Unfortunately space IS an issue.
- Cardboard boxes

So sounds like there is a good motley crew of us ready for Illumination
Village's 12th year, hopefully we can persuade some of those fence
project, we want pictures!).

It would be great to get together sometime so to say hello, to make some
plans, to eat something, to talk about more fire, more art and to share
plans for cardboard housing! Steve, Karen and I want to throw out the
29th of April as a good day to met. Is any Villager willing to host the
meeting/ potluck? Steven and Karen are in Santa Cruz, and I moved to a
wonderful but very small place in the East Bay (as soon as the rain
stops I promise to invite everyone over to my beach!) so someone else
might have a better location to met. If anyone is willing to host the
and Digital Anarchy, http://www.digitalanarchy.com in
mid December.

The seminar is two days hands on videographics,
transition customization, advanced compositing and
pro-workflow. Includes a free copy of my book, "Motion
Graphics and Effects in Final Cut Pro" published by
Peachpit Press.

Students say: The Motion Graphics and Effects in Final
Cut Pro Seminar is

"STIMULATING, IN-DEPTH, MOTIVATING, COMPREHENSIVE,
AWESOME, ENJOYABLE, INSPIRING, WAY COOL, WORTHWHILE,
NECESSARY, ADVANCED ".

Kevin Monahan's Experience:
I've been a FCP trainer for 5 years and editing as a
pro for 15 years at places like Electronic Arts, Apple
and Pixar. I hope to teach everyone things you never
knew about FCP, something you can use today.

Many pros and people coming up would benefit from the
seminar - people who have and use Final Cut Pro – need
to be efficient, effective and competitive. You need
to know the interface and how to edit in the timeline
to get the most out of this class.

My seminar is designed as hands-on so bring your
laptop with Final Cut Pro 4.0 or higher already
loaded. Check our website for rental options.

After a long journey home, comprised of sitting in two extremely long traffic jams due to some yahoos rolling their car/trailer, a surreal experience at the Peppermill (too much neon!), and me falling out of the fucking truck upon leaving the Peppermill before having coffee (by some miracle I managed to not do that on the playa, even in 4 inch platform boots), I am sitting here in Santa Cruz and it’s cold and foggy outside. I am listening to the unfamiliar sound of water flowing from my fountain and birds chirping outside (CHIRP!). It is really good to be home, but I already miss my playa-home and all that came with it.

We had to bolt out of BRC after the temple burn and sadly did not get to say goodbye to most of you nor see the clock tower burn. I am sure it was spectacular. Thank you all for making my experience so wonderful this year. It was by far my best year and is mostly due to just hanging out with all of you.

Every day Ken would come by the Box Lounge and ask me what the highlight of my day was. Here is a list of some of my highlights, in no particular order:

- Hanging in the Box Lounge with all my friends, old & new
- Craft day in the Box Lounge – so many people painted the boxes, Steve made el wire, Jack worked on his flowers, Colinne organized her FLG folder and we ate and drank
- Aaron wearing his Devo hat playing “It’s just the Girl” by Devo on his accordion
- Eating fried chicken & beer out on the playa by Dan’s Passage sculpture
- Showering in the Douche Voyeur
- Making grilled cheese sandwiches with Charlie at 4 am and then being woken up by the pulse jet at 5:30 am (NOT) :)
- KRINGLE
- The Angle of the Alpaca’s Lips (I believe it was Rebecca who said it that and I almost peed myself when I heard it)
- Volunteering on the Angel & being in control of the poofer. People really got-off on pushing the button and it was so cool to be a part of it.
- Having dinner with Aguamala on Tuesday night – so civilized!
- Kiki’s hot dinner rolls – she is the playa Kitchen Goddess
- Riding the pony on Utah & Hoover’s art car during the parade of Bonefire’s before the Machine went down
- Riding the Nautilus with my boyz Steve & John to see all the big art installations
- Venturing out to the perimeter and finding a comfy little pod with pillows & netting and having a picnic with my hubby on the anniversary of renewing our vows
- Dancing at the Deep End with my friend Frank & shaking my booty for drinks

So thank you again for being part of my experience. We were overjoyed to be able to provide a welcoming space for people to hangout. I am looking forward to something similar next year. Who knows… maybe Jessica’s village proposal will come true and we will all live in cardboard boxes, lined with white picket fences (optional), fire art, flags and smiling faces.

We took some great photos and will soon put them up on our site. I’ll send out a link when they’re ready. See you at Decompression if not before, and if you’re coming down to Santa Cruz give us a holler. Our house is always open for visitors.

Love & big hugs,
Karen

Here it is in it's entirety for your entry pleasure.

Enter early, enter often...

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

___________________________________________________

EARLY ARRIVALS

All registered theme camps are welcome to come to Black Rock City as
early as Saturday, August 28th, at 12:01 AM. Registered theme camps
have special permission to enter. Placement is up and running and we
welcome your arrival! We encourage you all to get in and get set up.
Remember, all Center Camp camps must be in by 6:00 PM on Sunday the
29th, all Esplanade camps must be in by 6:00 on Monday the 30th and
all other camps must be in by 6:00 PM on Tuesday the 31st.

Bringing a copy of this announcement and know the name of your camp
when entering our gate.

____________________________________________________

FUEL AND HAZARDOUS MATERIALS STORAGE

If you are planning on storing more than 20 liquid gallons of any
fuel (gasoline, kerosene, diesel, or propane) either in your camp or
at your art project please remember to follow these common sense
guidelines:

For compressed and liquefied gasses such as CO2, oxygen, propane,
nitrogen etc.:

* All gas cylinders must be stored in an upright position and secured
to prevent tipping.
* Black Rock City Emergency Services must be notified of the presence
of acetylene cylinders of any size.
* At least one fire extinguisher must be visible and available at all
times when storing flammable gasses.
* Propane cylinders of 100 gallons or more are not permitted within
the city limits.
* Oxygen cylinders must be kept at least 20 feet from any flammable
gasses when not in use.

For liquid fuels such as gasoline, kerosene, diesel, and white gas:

* Any collection of 20 gallons or more of flammable liquid must be
kept within a secondary containment area. This can be as simple as a
petroleum resistant tarp rolled into a catch.
* A supply of cat litter should be kept in a basin on hand for any spills.
* All containers must be labeled identifying contents and hazards.
* A safety perimeter must be provided at least 30 feet from any
camping as well as a clear access for the Black Rock City Emergency
Services in case of fire.
*At least one 18 pound A-B dry chemical fire extinguisher must be
kept visible and available at all times.

More safety reminders:

* Petroleum fires burn at the surface of the material as it is
vaporized by the fire's heat. Applying water causes the flaming
liquid to spread over a wider area and vaporize more rapidly, thus
intensifying the fire. The best way to put out such a fire is to cut
off its air. The smothering agents commonly used to do this for
petroleum fires are carbon dioxide (CO2) and dry chemical powders.
Both are equally effective, but the dry chemical is better for
outdoor use because it's not subject to wind. For good all-around
fire protection, use an ABC or ll-class extinguisher
* Store fuel away from running generator.
* Do not fill the tank on a generator that is running.
* Keep all equipment used for petroleum storage and handling in good
condition. Watch for leaks, deterioration or damage.
* If fuel is spilled on your clothing, go away from any ignition
source, and allow the clothing to dry.
* When transferring fuel use a pump. Never use your mouth. A mouth
full of gas or diesel could be fatal.
* Be aware of static electricity. This can build up on you and or
the container. Any spark can ignite gasoline vapors. Use a
grounding strap.

____________________________________________________

GETTING WORK DONE (for camps with complaints or who missed deadlines)

I need to remind everyone that Burning Man has very few paid staff
members and we wear many hats to do a lot of work. Additionally
there is a hard core group a volunteers that are passionate about
their roles with Burning Man but have full time jobs for 8 hours a
day on top of what they give. There are no slackers here.

Receiving emails full of emotion, sometimes incoherent outrage, like
a disappointed customer with an uncaring business is really
disappointing. Less emotional emails with more information that
could help to solve issues are more productive. Though none of us are
perfect everyone here has the Burning Man spirit and is trying to
help, even when people act like jerks (most theme camps are helpful
and understanding and we really appreciate that). When we have
problem cases we just make a big sigh, try to keep our perspective,
attempt to pull the facts we need out of the information sent and get
on with trying to make everything work out for everyone involved.
There is a lot to get done at this time of the year and gratuitous
emotion is not helpful.

Some folks don't like the answer they get so they start to "shop for
answers" or try and dodge our process. This is also counter
productive. Please do not go to any other departments or staff
members with issues involving your placement or theme camp needs. It
will only cloud issues further and waste precious energy.

We try to but cannot always remind you of every deadline and every
requirement. Early on we set the expectation that you must be
responsible for incoming information yourself and remind you that
after July 15th we may need you to be available to answer questions,
etc. The average Burning Man participant is addicted to information
and self reliance, so this expectation seems reasonable. Most theme
camps seem to have no problem meeting these needs.

If you read the Afterburn Reports we started a few years ago you
will begin to see that we really value honesty, admitting mistakes
and trying to make things better in the future. You can hold us to
this standard. We consider it a waste of time and energy to try and
keep up the appearance of perfection. Please do not waste your time
or ours trying to fabricate reason why you missed a deadline or need
special accommodations. A smoke screen of indignation is easy to see
through as well. We really appreciate it when people present their
situations honestly, without emotion if possible. We will always try
and solve the issue at hand. We want to help! We will bend our
processes to be of assistance when we can. However, we will not
sacrifice time and resources if we are not able to be responsible to
the entire organization when doing so. If we need to make a
decision between spending time on early arrival issues coming in
after the deadline or nailing down vendor contracts for the city's
porta-potties, we have no choice but to put our vendor contracts
first. We hope you understand.

Hello Villagers,

things to know!

the village is at 8;30 just like last year....

the Village theme is RED AND GREEN Please bring rope lights to light
up your camp in these colors, Silver and Gold can work too...

Please send in your $10 for the genni I know there are lots of you who
still have not done this...

Rich or vonder boy mayor will be making light posts to illuminate or
village, they are gonna be cool!

WHAT ARE YOU DOING TO MAKE OUR VILLAGE A BETTER PLACE?

I want to hear about the small and midsized works of village are that
each of you are making...

(a work of art is your ticket into our village! please do it or camp
else where.... oooo it is not that hard people) dig deep and make
something.....!!!!!!!!!

THINGS THAT YOU CAN DO...

We could still use some help with the interior borders of our village,
What will we use to draw lines in our village for paths, common area
etc... It sure would be fun if someone could take this on/.
hints and ideas.....100 tiny flags, tennis balls on a stick, Punjab
sticks, 100 cupie dolls, black plastic and 100 lawn stakes....

Doesn't this sound like a fun way to participate in our village? come
on any one???

Village Flags...... in years past we have set up some flag poles
around our village, I am willing to help set up all the flag poles if
someone wants to make some flags? ANY TAKERS??

!!How else can YOU make the Village more fun? Things that have been
neat in the past.!!

- Bicycle repair camp is easy and brings lots of people into our village,
-Someone once brought a sewing machine and did tent repair.. that rocked
- How about a small stage as easy a piece of carpet or a small riser,
bonus items like a small PA and microphone will add hours of
entertainment to our camp.
- here is a good one, Picture frames on a Stick, just find some old
picture frames and a piece of rebar and set them up for people to take
picture of themselves w/ the desert as the back ground..
- Fabric and LIGHT is always a winner.... lots of easy ways to do this...
-- Tall.... sew the fabric into a sock get a pole and stick it in the
ground, sock over the top, spread out the bottom and nail it into the
ground with tent stakes and light inside. this looks so good.
-- Short..... no sewing necessary, take a large piece of fabric, get a
dozen short steaks and dozen tennis balls, and a few light. place the
steaks in the ground at different heights, tennis balls on top of
each, spread fabric across and stake down edges, place lights
inside... makes a very easy and large lights sculpture, beautiful and
easy...

anyone have any other good ideas? Lets hear them!

Fire ART! the village favorite,,,, want to make some... I know how to
do it and would be glad to help anyone... We can have lots of fire in
the Village if only some of you want to make some.... It is easy and
it is fun...

We are moving into the home stretch, this is the ILLUMINATIONS 11 year
on the playa, lets not get lazy now, lets get fabulous!!!

cheers everyone.
